The two primarily competing attitudes involve thinking of food as either a source of fuel for your body or as a source of enjoyment or comfort. People who treat food as fuel are usually healthier and in better shape than people who view food as a source of enjoyment. In any case, it is ideal if you can find a healthy balance between the two.

Part 2 covers increasing your knowledge, believing in your program, making a commitment to yourself, and not comparing yourself to others.
In the first part of this post I cover the first 3 tips, which involved creating a supportive environment, deciding what you want to accomplish, and creating short, intermediate, and long-term goals (click here to read part 1). Believe it or not, it is often possible to determine if a person will ultimately succeed or fail based on the psychological approach they have towards their health and fitness routine. If you have the right mindset, it greatly increases your chances of improving and experiencing long-term success in all aspects of health and fitness. On the other hand, if you have the wrong attitude, it can completely sabotage your efforts.

It seems as though more and more people feel as though they do not have control over their health. This post discusses how our everyday actions affect our overall health and explains that we have more control over how we look and feel than we realize.
This post is inspired by a book excerpt I recently read in the February 2010 issue of Wired magazine. The excerpt is from a new book titled The Decision Tree: Taking Control of Your Health in the New Era of Personalized Medicine and it is primarily about using decision trees to help you make better choices when making health related decisions. While the decision tree information was somewhat interesting and could be very useful to some people, it was the introductory information that really struck a nerve and made me want to write about this topic.
