Weight loss supplements make up a large part of the supplement industry and people are continually trying new supplements to help them lose fat. This post looks at the three major categories of weight loss supplements to see if they really deliver on their weight loss promises.

     People spend an incredible amount of money on weight loss supplements, but are they really worth it? There are many different types of weight loss supplements, but they can generally be broken down into three categories: metabolism boosters, appetite suppressants, and supplements to prevent you from storing calories as fat. Naturally, there are some weight loss supplements that do not fall into any of these categories and some supplements fall under multiple categories, but for the sake of this post, these categories will cover the vast majority of weight loss products.

Supplements: Which Ones Live up to their Hype? – Part 2 – Protein Powders and Meal Replacement Powders (MRPs)

This post discusses the positive and negative qualities of protein powders and meal replacement powders. Admittedly there are a lot of bad supplements out there, but these are ones that actually may be worth buying.

     In part 1 of this series I covered the general supplement categories of vitamins/minerals and performance enhancers (click here to read) and discussed which ones are worth the money and which ones should be avoided. In this post I am going to take a similar approach with protein powders and meal replacement powders (MRPs). These are some of the more popular supplements sold today and in general, they are above average in terms of quality and value.

There are so many supplements available that it is hard to keep track of everything and even harder to decide which ones, if any, you should buy. This post discuss vitamins/minerals and performance enhancing supplements and explains which ones are worth the money and under what circumstances.

     In a previous post, I provided some general information about supplements (see An Introduction to Supplements and the Supplement Industry), but now I am going a step further to take a closer look at different types of supplements. Specifically, my goal is to discuss which supplements are beneficial and worth the money and which ones simply do not live up to their hype or are overpriced for the benefits they provide.

An Introduction to Supplements and the Supplement Industry

This post serves as an introduction to supplements and discusses some of the most confusing issues related to supplements and their labels.

     If you are unfamiliar with supplements, trying to buy them can be confusing and overwhelming, because there are so many different brands and products, with new ones coming out all the time. There are currently so many products that it is practically impossible to keep track of everything. Even people who work in the supplement industry tend to specialize in certain areas, such as vitamins/minerals, sports supplements, herbs, etc.
