     Exercise intensity is one of the most important variables in any workout, because if the intensity is not correct, your workout won’t have the intended effect. Exercising at the wrong intensity level is one of the most common mistakes people make and it should definitely be avoided, if you want to experience optimal results. Commonly Used and Often Misused Fitness Terms Part 1: Sports and Exercise that Involve Lifting Weights

This is part 1 of my series discussing commonly used and often misused fitness terminology. Part 1 covers the meaning and differences between the terms: resistance training, weightlifting, powerlifting, and bodybuilding.

     This is the first part of my series dedicated to explaining fitness related terms that are often misunderstood and misused. When discussing fitness related topics, or any topic for that matter, it is important for everyone to use the same terminology. Otherwise, using terms in different ways can easily lead to a miscommunication or misinterpretation of the information. With that in mind, I will discuss various terms that have specific meanings in the health in fitness, but are often misused in all forms of media, even by people who call themselves experts in the field.
